Build It Awards 2019 | WINNER ‘Best Joinery Product’

We’re delighted to announce that First Step Designs has been recognised as an award-winning Joinery company, taking home the award for “Best Joinery Product” in the 2019 Build It Awards!

The Build It Awards celebrate the self-build industry’s most innovative products and outstanding suppliers, alongside the best self-build and renovation projects in the country.

First Step Designs was in a shortlist of five having beat hundreds of other entries to make it through to the final. All the submissions were judged by a panel of industry experts and the winners were announced at a gala dinner two Fridays ago.

The award-winning Best Joinery Project is the Roman Road, Curved Spine Project, a stunning new-build project that has been the talk of the staircase industry for the last six months since its installation. The owners, Mr and Mrs Holyhead, chose First Step Designs as their Staircase Specialist for their forever home as they wanted a something, original, unique and jaw dropping. They got just that!

This staircase design included the following features:

• Steel spine construction with no visible welds, just smooth powder coated steel on display.
• 110mm Solid Oak chunky treads, finished with a custom grey stain.
• Curved 60×40 5 axis CNC handrails
• Curved 12mm, toughened and polished glass panels.
• Over 15m of landing balustrades
• LED tread lighting system
• Stainless steel features to finish the bespoke masterpiece.

It took just 5 days to install, after a 10 week lead time. At the end of the process, not only did the owners have a beautiful home but the satisfaction that their entrance hallway was flawless due to this incredible design and installation
